With social distancing is becoming the normal for more and more people, as we being quarantine, it important now than ever before: self-care. Whether you are enjoying the time at home or you are starting to feel anxious, implementing a self-care routine to give yourself and your mind some needed rest is beneficial for your mental well-being.
Here are 5 ways to practice self-care during social distancing:
Make a list of your favorite indoor activities.
It's hard accepting that the shelter-in-place precaution might last for weeks or even months can be mentally challenging. That's why important to plan your indoor activities to keep you entertained. There are many activities to take part in at home and indoors.
Now is the perfect time to start a new project (or complete a pending project that you have been meaning to do) Play a board game with family or virtually with friends. You can also do activities such as coloring, painting, cooking, reorganizing, writing and my favorite... reading! Although, it's not a favorite for many people, however it is recommended- working out at home. By making a list of your favorite indoor activities, it will definitely help when boredom kicks in or in need of a good exercise.
Take a break from the news.
Pardon me while I say it again for the people in the back- Take a break from the news people! For many people, it is very difficult to distance themselves from the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, worldwide news. It's all over the place: on TV, online, throughout social media and the lips of pretty much everyone. But remember to take a break from the loud noise of the virus, as it could make you even more anxious about what's going on in the world.
Although it very important to stay updated on what's happening in your state, you should take at least a 15 minute break throughout the day to relax your mind. Listen, turn off the TV, shut down your computer, and here's the big one for many people- log off your social media and enjoy silence. Close your eyes or simply lay down for a few minutes. Try it - it really helps!
Nourish your body.
During this hectic time, it is important to take care of your health. Eat a well balance diet with good proteins (such as legumes or meats), fresh or canned fruit and vegetables, well depending on what you have available now days) and drinking plenty of water at least 8 glasses per day. Keep your body nourished to help it say healthy. Your body is your temple!
Connect with a supportive group.

Check in with your loved ones.
Sometimes you need some encouragement from those who know you most. Whether it's a family member, friend or mentor, reach out to your personal community of people you love to stay connected. Due to social distancing, there are other ways you can still spend time with your network of loved ones.
If you have Face time or other video chatting technology, set up a call!! It's nice to communicate face to face, even if it's digitally. Try writing a letter sometimes helps ease stress. Start a family & friends chat group to stay in the loop.
